I am an artist, a wife and a mother. I have been interested in art for as long as I can remember and have been painting and drawing since I could write. My grandmother, who was also an artist, had a huge influence on me and since we lived with her until I was about 6 years old this really paved the way for me becoming an artist.
I always felt like I was a little different than the other kids at school. I was never that interested in studying and always did poorly on tests. This pattern followed me all through my school years. I ended up getting mixed up with a bad crowd of kids. I think I basically got tired of trying and trying and never seeing any positive results. It was time to graduate and decide what I was going to do with my life. I was interested in going to a performing arts school for dance or I would go to an art school. My mother had a say in it since she was paying for part of it. She voted for art school. I applied to only one school and got accepted, Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia.
After the first semester we finally got our grades. I could not believe it. I have not seen an A since grade school. I received A's and B's. I had finally found the thing in life that I was supposed to do. And I was finally among my people. People who understood me, supported me and thought I was good. It is what turned my life around.
After graduating this four year school it just happened to be the absolute worst time for finding a job. The economy was so bad. I had bills to pay and just couldn't find a job in the art field so I kept waitressing, which is what I was doing while going to school. I moved out of my mother's house shortly after graduating because we were fighting constantly. I moved to the shore, which is where I had spent every summer since starting art school. I had friends there who took me in and helped me get on my feet. I lived there for about 5 years. I got so far away from art and wasn't sure I'd ever come back to it.
I came back home to the area I grew up and got an office job to pay my bills and hopefully get a place of my own. I worked and saved my money and bought my first home in 1998. After renovating for about five years I met my husband and he moved in. In December of 2003 I quit my office job and started my business. My husband and I got married in 2005 in Las Vegas by Elvis.
I started with painted furniture and murals. Today I paint furniture, murals and fine art. I have also created too many custom pieces to detail here.
